Inserting a Video into Page or Post
WP Scrolling Videos
WP
Scrolling Videos is a plugin that allows you to place your videos as a widget. This allows your videos to continue playing when
a user scrolls down a page.
Your visitors
will stay engaged throughout your entire video while they are exploring the
content.
Stop losing the engagement and attention of
your viewers!
You can
position your videos at bottom, top, center, etc. With features such as countdown-timer, share
button and animation you will start engaging your visitors in a way that was
never possible in past.
Currently
YouTube and local (mp4) videos are supported. You can either add your link to
video or upload one from hard drive.
Please keep in mind the plugin also comes in a “Lite
Version”. If you
have the lite version, please read the notes.
You can contact your supplier to obtain the full version of plugin. Refer to
the link in WP Admin plugin area to upgrade.
To
create a new video, please follow these steps.
1.
Navigate
to the WP Scrolling Videos link from the WordPress Admin Dashboard, then click
“Add Video” as shown in the screenshot below.
2.
Next you
will be taken to a page which allows you to add your video and set various
options. This will be explained further in the next section of this user manual.
3.
Once you
have set the options, click on the “Add Video” button to save the video you
just created.
Setting options
of the newly created video or just updating existing video is very simple and
can be done by the following the steps below.
1.
Navigate
to the WP Scrolling Videos link in the WordPress Dashboard, then click on the
“All Videos” link as shown below.
2.
You will
be shown a list of all the videos that you’ve created. Each video has a menu
link (with three line) to the right of name. Click on that and then at the
sub-menu, click on the “Edit Video”
link to edit the video.
3. You
will be taken to another page showing the details of the video and you can make
changes. Once you are done (IMPORTANT), click on the “Save Changes” button to save your new settings. Failure to save
changes before leaving areas will result in loss of changes!
To
delete the video, please follow these steps:
1.
Access
the All Videos link from the WP Scrolling Videos menu. This is similar to the
first step of the previous instruction on updating the video.
2.
You will
then be taken to another page showing you a list of all published videos. Click
to the right most link of your chosen video, then click further on the “Delete
Video” sub-menu that pops up.
3.
You will
then be prompted with a pop-up window asking you whether to continue or not.
Click on YES to delete the video. Otherwise, click Cancel.
To
insert a video into your page or post, follow the steps below.
a) Access the page or post where you want to
insert a video or create a new page/post.
b) Click
the WP Scrolling Videos button from the Post/Page Editor Toolbar.
c) A
pop-up window will appear, which allows you to select a video from your
published videos. Select the video that you want to embed and then click the
“Insert Video” button to add.
Here is
an explanation of the various option settings available for the WP Scrolling
Videos Plugin.
In this
section the following options are available.
1.
Title --
Specifies the title of the video. This data will not be shown to visitors and
only serves as a way for you to locate video.
2.
Widget
Style -- Determines the appearance of the widget. Choose one style that was
previously created (how to create widgets will be explained in the next section).
3.
Status
-- Determine the status of the video is displayed or hidden (active).
4.
Restricted
-- Determines whether to limit access only to registered users.
This
section contains options to adjust the appearance of the video.
1.
Background
Color -- Determines the background color of the main video.
2.
Border –
Sets a border around the main video. Here you can specify the thickness and
color of the line.
3.
Text
Color -- Determines the color of the text that is on the main video.
4.
Font
Family -- Determines the type of font of the text that is on the main video.
5.
Font Size
-- Determines the font size of the text that is on the main video.
6.
Text
Align -- Specifies the text alignment and the main video.
7.
Padding
-- Determines the distance between the main video and edges.
8.
Border
Radius -- Determines the curvature of the border around the main video.
9.
Shadow
-- Determines the shadow effect on the main video.
This
section contains options to adjust the main content, both video and text content
about the video. Here are the available options.
1.
Video
Type -- Determine the type of video you want to display. You can choose whether
you want to display video by uploading a video file (mp4) or specify YouTube as
a video source.
When you
select the option “Upload,” then you must specify the options below.
a.
Video
File – Click on the Select Vide Button to upload a video from your local drive.
b.
Video
Poster -- Specifies the image file that will serve as the video preview image
Recommend high quality image BUT keep size small.
If you selected YouTube, the following options will appear:
a.
YouTube
Video URL -- Specifies the URL of your YouTube video.
b.
Start
time -- Determines the starting time of the video.
2.
Video
Width -- Determines the width of the main video (experiment for best results).
3.
Video
Height -- Determines the height of the main video.
4.
Autoplay
-- Determines whether the main video will automatically play when the page is
first loaded.
5.
Title – Sets
the title of the video that appears as “header”.
6.
Info - Sets
the video description.
This
section contains options to adjust the countdown options.
1.
Show /
Hide Countdown -- Sets whether to display the countdown or not.
2.
Target
Date -- Sets the target date of completion of the countdown.
3.
Format
-- Sets the time format of countdown timer.
4.
Background
Color -- Sets the background color of the countdown timer.
5.
Font
Family -- Sets the font of the text.
6.
Text
Color -- Sets the text color.
7.
Border
-- Sets the border around countdown.
8.
Border
Radius -- Set the level of curvature at the edges countdown.
This
section contains options to adjust the content of the button which appears
below it in page or post.
1.
Button
Target – Sets the target URL or if setup, the opt-in form.
There are
two options available, namely: Page URL and Opt-In Form.
Page URL
then link to the page of the specified URL.
Opt-In Form will display your autoresponder code
allowing the user to subscribe to a mailing list by providing his/her email
address. Opt-In Form settings will be explained
in the next section.
2.
Button
Text -- Sets the text of a button.
3.
Button
Icon -- Sets the icon of the button.
4.
Align
Text -- Sets the alignment of the text in button.
5.
Button
Size -- Sets the size of the button.
6.
Open in
New Tab Button – Determines whether to display the page in a new tab/window or
current one.
This
section contains options to setup your Opt-in Form
1.
Form
Title -- Specifies the title (header) of the form.
2.
Form
Info – Text below title.
3.
Form
Code --Sets the optin form’s code provided by the autoresponder service you
choose. Once you enter the code in the input form above, then it will be the
basis of gathering the important opt-in components, such as the following.
a.
Action URL
-- Specifies the URL that handles the form when it is processed.
b.
Form
Field Email -- Usually comes in two complementary components: the field label
and the email input field itself. This is usually a required field.
c.
Form
Name Field – Depending on the Opt-In code that you embedded, sometimes this
field is not provided since this is really optional.
4.
Show /
Hide Form Label -- Determines whether to display the label on each input form
or not. If set to Hide, the form label will be displayed as a placeholder of
the input field.
5.
Submit
Button Text -- Set the text or label of the submit form button.
Here is
an example of the opt-in form that pops up if option is setup correctly:
This
section contains options to manage the various social media profile links allowing
the site visitors to share the video.
1.
Show /
Hide Share Button -- Sets whether or not to display the social media share
buttons.
2.
Activate
Button -- Sets the specific social media buttons which will be added to the
video page.
3.
Button
Style -- Set the display type of the share button icon.
Widget
Style is a section for controlling the display of your video widget which appears
when the page is scrolled past the original location of video. Keep in mind if
your main video is a bottom of page, results will be poor. For best results
place main video near top of page or post.
To
create a new widget, please follow these steps:
1.
Navigate
to the WP Scrolling Videos Menu link from the dashboard and then click on the
“Widget Style” Link.
2.
On the Widget
Style Panel, click on the “Add New Style” button. You will then be taken to a page
which allows you to set various options for the widget. These options will be
explained below.
3.
Once you
are done setting the various options for the widget, simply click on the “Add
Style” button to save. Be SURE to save changes before leaving each area!
To
modify, manage content and style options of the video widget please follow
these steps:
1.
Access Widget
Style clicking the "Widget Style" link either from the WP Scrolling
Videos Menu from the Dashboard or from main tab located at the top (see image
below but instead of delete, use the edit button).
2.
You will
then be shown the list of widget styles you’ve created. Click on the “three
lines”.
3.
Click on
the “Save Changes” Button anytime for the modifications to take effect.
To
delete a video data, please follow the steps below (NOTE: this is NOT reversible!).
1.
Access
main page Widget Style via the "Widget Style" menu link either from
the WP Scrolling Videos Dashboard or from its main tab located at the top.
2.
On
Widget Style Panel, a list of available styles will display and in the right
most portion of menu. Click on it to display a pop-up sub-menu and then click
on the "Delete Style" button.
3.
You will
be prompted to continue with the deletion process. Click “Yes” to delete and
REMEMBER, this action is not reversible.
Here is
a breakdown of the various option available for the Widget Style.
Here are
the general options available for this section:
1.
Widget
Title -- Determines the title of the style. This info will not appear for your
visitors, it is for your reference only.
2.
Position
-- Determines the position of widgets on the video page.
3.
Widget
Video Play Method -- Determines the method of how video is executed when the
widget is displayed. Choosing “Continue”
will restart video at last viewed position if visitor scrolls back up and then
back down. The other two option are self-explanatory.
This
section contains options that determine how the widget appears when displayed
and allows you to match your site colors.
When
setting up your first widget it will take some tweaking. It is best to
experiment to obtain best results. Keep in mind that there is NO way to make
this plugin compatible with every theme. Poorly coded themes will result in
poor results and changing themes might be best option if experiencing layout
issues.
1.
Color --
Determines the composition of the color of the widget. Here you can choose one
color option or specify the color composition itself through Custom option,
which is set as follows:
a.
Background
Color -- Sets the background color of the widget.
b.
Border
Color -- Sets the color of the line around the widget.
c.
Text
Color -- Sets the color of the text in the widget (worthy of noting on some themes this may set border color also).
d.
Header
Background Color -- Sets the background color of the header.
e.
Header
Background Color -- Sets the color of the text in the header section.
f.
Button
Background Color -- Sets the background color of the button.
g.
Button
Border Color -- Sets the color of the outline of the button.
h.
Button
Text Color -- Sets the color of the text in the button.
2.
Widget
Width -- Sets the width of the widget.
3.
Border
-- Sets a border around the widget. You can set to 0 when you don’t want to
show the outline.
4.
Border
Radius -- Determines the curvature of the border around the widget.
5.
Font
Family -- Determines what kind of font to apply for the text in the widget.
6.
Font
Size -- Specifies the font size for text in the widget.
7.
Header
Height – Sets the height of the header.
The
following explains the various settings affecting how the video section
displays.
8.
Height
-- Sets the height of the section that displays the video.
9.
Padding
-- Sets the distance around the video.
10. Background Image – Sets the background image
placed behind the video.
11. Repeat Background Image -- Determines the
method of repetition of a background image.
This
section contains options to set the header portion of the video widget.
1.
Show /
Hide Header -- Determines whether to display the headers in the widget.
2.
Header
Text -- Determining the header text in the widget.
3.
Header
Icon --Determining the icon in the widget header.
4.
Align
Text -- Determining the content in the header alignment.
5.
Show /
Hide Close Button -- Determines whether to display the cover button widget.
6.
Show /
Hide Minimize Button -- Determine whether to display a button to minimize the
widget.
1.
Show /
Hide Button -- Determines whether to display the buttons at the bottom of the
widget.
2.
Show /
Hide Share Button -- Determines whether to display the share button.
This
section contains various options to set the effects when the widget is
displayed or hidden.
1.
Show
Animation -- Determines the type of animation to show when the widget is
displayed.
2.
Show
Animation Speed -- Determines the speed of the animation when the widget is
displayed.
3.
Hide
Animation -- Determines the type of animation to apply when the widget is
hidden.
4.
Hide
Animation Speed -- Determines the speed of the animation when the widget is
hidden.
5.
Show
Audio -- Determines the type of audio to play when the widget is displayed.
6.
Hide
Audio -- Determines the type of audio to plat when the widget is hidden.
